Everybody dreams of having good summer vacations but unfortunately, not all vacations turn out that way. Choosing the perfect destination doesn’t automatically mean you’ll have a good time. But coordination and advance planning definitely increase the chances of everyone having fun!
Here are five summer vacation tips that’ll help put the fun back in your fun summer vacations.
1) Include everyone
If you don’t want your vacation to fail before it even gets a chance to start, be sure that everyone going is involved from the beginning. Find out what each person wants and see if you can come up with a consensus. And understand that when more than one person is involved, compromise is important. So don’t plan a beach vacation or a Caribbean vacation if the other travelers are looking to escape the heat, even if that’s what you’ve got your heart set on.
2) Try something different
For most families, fun summer vacations mean a summer vacation with kids. Instead of taking the same old annual trip to see the relatives, which your kids probably despise by now, do something different instead. Colorado summer vacations offer non-stop breathtaking vistas and plenty of outdoor activities the whole family will enjoy. If you’d rather not travel far, see what your state has to offer. There’s probably more to do than you imagine! Remember, adventure travel doesn’t necessarily mean a week spent white-water kayaking or hiking treacherous terrain. It can simply mean doing something you wouldn’t normally do.
3) Cheap summer vacations can be fun!
Most people today are trying to stretch their dollars and scrimping while on vacation doesn’t have to mean sacrificing on fun. Try having a big lunch and then eating appetizers or soup and salad for dinner. Prices on lunch menus are often considerably less. Or try to arrange flights during off-hours like early morning or late in the evening to get cheaper fares. Or plan a trip to a state or national park. There’s a lot to do and most activities are reasonably priced.
4) Know before you go
Before booking cheap summer vacations, make sure you completely understand why it’s being offered so inexpensively. Most travelers can endure a hotel in need of paint, but few will enjoy staying at one that’s dirty or has problems with the plumbing.
5) Arrange cottage vacations
Cottage vacations are a great alternative to staying in hotels and motels. They offer all the comforts of home, are usually reasonably priced, and when fully-furnished provide everything you need to enjoy your stay. It’s a great way to take a summer vacation with kids because they’re more spacious than hotel rooms. Plus you’ll have a kitchen so you won’t have to dine out all the time; something that can quickly bust your travel budget.
