Legend has it that there was a witch that used to throw stones on those who attended the numerous processions which took place in Girona. One day, on Corpus Christi, she was just about to throw some stones when she heard a voice thundering across the town. The voice “Throw stones, throw stones and stone you will become”. From this day on she can be seen as a gargoyle in the cathedral of Girona. So be warned, throw stones in Girona and you too might become a permanent addition.
